THE DUTY OF THE SAINTS

One of the works of the Holy Spirit is to give us direction.  He will lead us in any spiritual conflict we see and He is the one who revealed who Jesus is to the apostles.  The reason for the warfare is that Satan and his fallen angels are trying to destroy mankind and pervert God's will.  There are conflicts in everyone’s life and dependent on how we respond to those problems will often determine how long we will go through them.  This is often the reason a babe in the Lord overcomes immense obstacles.  They are young enough and in love with the Lord so deeply they trust Him without any doubt.  Therefore He honors their simple faith.  As we mature in the Lord we should remember this first love and have simple faith.

He is, above all, love.  He is the sovereign and creator of all things, visible and invisible.  If we remain in His Word, He will remain in us.  Because our Lord is with

the Father, we may ask whatever we will and He will do it for us.  Whenever we ask anything according to God's will, He commits the work to the Holy Spirit and His angels’ care.

All of us come to the throne of God at repentance.  We overcome the devil through the blood of the Lamb.  Now God is asking us to finish the work He began.  He is commissioning us to complete the work through the word of our testimony.  The following verses give this prophetic view credibility: Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”    -- Revelation 12:10-11

The Duty of The Saints Concerning Warfare

In regard to warfare, the following scriptures reveal the weapons we are to use.  When a person can comprehend and retain the milk of the word, submit themselves to those appointed over them, and patiently wait upon the Lord, He will open a door of service for them.  In the midst of all the confusion, those who have the Spirit of the Lord are at perfect peace knowing that the battle is the Lord’s.

The Saints of God fight the warfare in the heavenlies through prayer.  As members of His body, Jesus delegates His absolute power and authority to us over all the works of the Devil.  There is nothing in heaven or earth that is not subject to our Lord and His church.

Before we begin to learn about spiritual matters from the Holy Bible, we have to be born again.  There's no substitute for obedience, not even sacrifice, concerning the Word of God and Holy Spirit's direction.  Our part in the reconciliation of mankind hangs in the balance, and we can fulfill our part resting in God's providential care to fulfill His will through us.  He who began a good work in us with be faithful to complete it until the day of Jesus Christ when God redeems all things by the blood of the Lamb of God.

The three things that put the enemy to flight are: the Word of God, prayer and praise.  When the Holy Spirit leads us, we become sensitive to the needs of the people, and vulnerable to the call of His small still voice.  We will put away childish things or any actions that would cause defeat in our lives: the works of the flesh, the lusts thereof, and the pride of life.  These things diminish as we mature. To overcome, James directs us to: 'Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.  The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.’  -- James 5:16

There are many types of phobias.  People are afraid of all kinds of things.  The church is not immune to fear and we need to learn to deal with it.  An unusual amount of stress can weaken one's faith, and the results are unique to this era, simply because there are now more than five billion people living on this planet.

People are being pressured on all fronts, whether real or imagined.  It comes from their family, friends, peer groups; and all the filth that is being generated by Satan.  God has launched a counter offensive through the Holy Spirit to contend with Satan.  The Spirit of the Lord is being poured out upon all flesh to prepare the hearts with a flood of God's grace, mercy, and truth.  The result of having such a great conflict about us is double-mindedness, until a person makes a decision on whom they will serve.  A person who is double-minded cannot find any peace of mind as they reap and sow from a field of confusion and oppression.  This problem can result in physical, mental, emotional and spiritual ailments.

The causes for the problems that arise in spiritual life are from a combination of a lack of knowledge and a lack of commitment concerning our relationship with the Lord.  A lot of people come forward for help but they do not want to take the medicine.  The cure is simple, obedience to the Word of God by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  Fear and double-mindedness are the result of making a wrong decision.  There are those who serve the enemy of our souls and they are in bondage to the evil one.  They will be in bondage until the Word reaches their heart with the truth, and the Holy Spirit uses us to set them free by the revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ's sacrifice.

Being involved in the ministry of reconciliation should revive and excite us if we are in touch with the Spirit of God.  When we learn to minister under the direction of the Holy Spirit, we know we are working with God.  There are those who believe they work for Him, but the Holy Spirit is not leading them in the work they do.  The Lord brings a person into our lives to minister to them and to befriend them.  Our responsibility is to counsel them, lead them to a closer relationship with the Lord, and tell them the truth.  We have an obligation to these people to provide them with the best we have.  This may mean referring them to someone with better qualifications to help them.

Anyone who loves their brother can share the love of our Lord Jesus Christ with them.  There is no harm in this.  Any harm done by counselors happens when believers venture beyond their particular qualifications, gifts, or calling, and try on their own to do God's work.  Without the leading of the Holy Spirit we should not venture beyond the realm of mortal man.  There is no room for spiritualism or psychic voyages.  The Lord delegates all power and authority and when we minister, and the Holy Spirit is the one working the gifts and ministering through us.  If we wait upon the Lord we have the full assurance in our hearts that we will overcome any obstacle, and the peace that surpasses all understanding, even in the middle of a battle.

Love one another.  Seek a balanced and mature life. Walk with the Spirit and He will lead us into the fullness and stature of our Lord Jesus Christ.  There is no other foundation that can withstand the rains in this life.   Amen!

GOD’S CHOSEN ARMY

God is waiting to commission each of us in the Lord's army.  We are not to fight in the flesh, as the governments of this world would have us believe.  Our battle is the pulling down of spiritual strongholds in high places, the preconceived ideas and vain imaginations of our minds, along with the fiery darts of the enemy.

Jesus Gave Us Authority Over All The Power Of The Enemy

And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; "they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.    -- Mark 16:15-19

We Can Bind The Enemy And Loose People From Sins Curse

"Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.  -- Matthew 18:18

Jesus Will Honor Our Requests And Be With Us

"Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. "For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."    -- Matthew 18:19-20

Jesus Sent Us The Holy Spirit To Dwell In Us, Comfort Us Too

"And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever, "even the [Spirit] of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.    -- John 14:16-17

The Spirit Will Teach And Help Us

"But the Helper, the Holy [Spirit], whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.  -- Jn 14:26

The Holy Spirit Will Reveal The Deep Things About Jesus

"But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.    -- John 15:26

"However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. "He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. "All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.    -- John 16:13-15

The Holy Spirit Will Work The Gifts Through Us

"For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater [works] than these, that you may marvel.    -- John 5:20

The Works Of Jesus Testified That He Is The Savior

"But I have a greater witness than John's; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish; the very works that I do; bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.-John 5:36

Our First Works Are To Believe In Him

Then they said to Him, "What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?"  Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent."    -- John 6:28-29

The Works Proved That The Father Was With The Son

"If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me; "but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him."    -- John 10:38

God The Father Did The Works Through Jesus

"Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the [works].  "Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.  -- John 14:10-11

Jesus Will Do Whatever We Ask According To God’s Will

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.  "And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. "If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.    -- John 14:12-14

The Test Of Discipleship

If you love Me, keep My commandments.” - Jn 14:15

The Resurrection And The Works Proved Jesus' Priesthood

"If I had not done among them the [works] which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father.    -- John 15:24

And who are we that we should be called the sons and daughters of the Most High God?  But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.  -- 1 Peter 2:9-10

Our Minds Will Be Renewed

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. -- Rom 12:1-2

Our Sanctification Will Result In Holiness

For this is the [will of God], your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit. -- 1 Thess 4:3-8

As Children Of The Light We Are To Walk In His Ways

You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.  Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing. And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves. Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God “‘in Christ’” Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.  Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. - 1 Th 5:5-26

For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: "For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith; but if anyone draws back, my soul has no pleasure in him." But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.    -- Hebrews 10:36-39
