In the beginning was the Word, and
the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
--John 1:1
He is the image of the invisible God, the
firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are
in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or
dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him
and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the
firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and
by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth
or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. --
Col 1:15-20
Jesus Came To Restore Man's Relationship
With God
He who sins is of the devil, for the devil
has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was
manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. -- 1 John 3:8
"For God so loved the world that He gave
His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but
have everlasting life. "For God did not send His Son into the world to
condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. - John
3:16-17
Jesus Revealed The Way To Eternal
Fellowship With God
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward
him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the
world! "This is He of whom I said, 'After me comes a Man who is
preferred before me, for He was before me.' "I did not know Him; but
that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with
water." And John bore witness, saying, "I saw the Spirit descending from
heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. "I did not know Him, but
He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'Upon whom you see the
Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the
Holy Spirit.' "And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of
God." John 1:29-34
Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to
you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the
kingdom of God. "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that
which is born of the Spirit is spirit. "Do not marvel that I said to you,
'You must be born again.' -- John 3:5-7
"But the hour is coming, and now is, when
the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is
seeking such to worship Him. "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him
must worship in spirit and truth." -- John 4:23-24
Jesus Came To Accomplish God's Will
Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the
will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. -- John 4:34
Then Jesus answered and said to them,
"Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what
He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. -- John 5:19
"I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I
judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but
the will of the Father who sent Me. -- John 5:30
"For I have come down from heaven, not to
do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. "This is the will of the
Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but
should raise it up at the last day. "And this is the will of Him who sent
Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have
everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day." -- Jn 6:38-40
Then Jesus said to them, "When you lift up
the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of
Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things. "And He who
sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do
those things that please Him." As He spoke these words, many believed in
Him. Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My
word, you are My disciples indeed. "And you shall know the truth, and the
truth shall make you free."-- John 8:28-32
Jesus Came To Give Us His Life
"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd
gives His life for the sheep. -- John 10:11
"I am the good shepherd; and I know My
sheep, and am known by My own. "As the Father knows Me, even so I know
the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. - John 10:14-15
"Therefore My Father loves Me, because I
lay down My life that I may take it again. "No one takes it from Me, but
I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to
take it again. This command I have received from My Father." -- John
10:17-18
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them,
and they follow Me. "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never
perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. "My Father, who
has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch
them out of My Father's hand. "I and My Father are one." -- John 10:27-30
The Grain Of Wheat
But Jesus answered them, saying, "The hour
has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. "Most assuredly, I say
to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains
alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. -- John 12:23-24
Loosing Our Life For Other's
"He who loves his life will lose it, and
he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. "If
anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will
be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor. -- John 12:25-26
Lifting Up Jesus Will Draw Others To God
"A new commandment I give to you, that you
love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
"By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one
another." -- Jn 13:34-35
Belief In Jesus Is Belief In God
"Let not your heart be troubled; you
believe in God, believe also in Me. -- John 14:1
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the
truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. --John
14:6
"Believe Me that I am in the Father and
the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.
"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do
he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to
My Father. "And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the
Father may be glorified in the Son. "If you ask anything in My name, I
will do it. -- John 14:11-14
We Can Do Nothing Of Ourselves
"I am the true vine, and My Father is the
vinedresser. -- John 15:1
"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch
cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can
you, unless you abide in Me. "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who
abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do
nothing. -- John 15:4-5
"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in
you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. -- John
15:7
The Importance Of Obedience To Christ
"This is My commandment, that you love one
another as I have loved you. "Greater love has no one than this, than to
lay down one's life for his friends. "You are My friends if you do
whatever I command you. -- John 15:12-14
We Become One With The Father And The Son
Through His Word
"I do not pray for these alone, but also
for those who will believe in Me through their word; "that they all may
be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one
in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. -- John 17:20-21
Jesus Came To Be God's Servant
Let this mind be in you which was also in
Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery
to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form
of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in
appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point
of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly
exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the
name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on
earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. -- Phil 2:5-11
We Are The Heirs Of God's Promises
For as many as are led by the Spirit of
God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage
again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out,
"Abba, Father." The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we
are children of God, and if children, then heirs; heirs of God and joint
heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be
glorified together. -- Rom 8:14-17
But when the fullness of the time had
come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to
redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as
sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son
into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!" Therefore you are no longer
a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. --
Gal 4:4-7
And we know that all things work together
for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to
His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to
the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
-- Rom 8:28-29
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the
heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the
foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before
Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to
Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the
glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved. In
Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of His grace which He made to abound toward us in
all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will,
according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the
dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one
all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth; in
Him. In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined
according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the
counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the
praise of His glory. In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of
truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you
were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our
inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the
praise of His glory.-Eph 1:3-14
Nothing Can Separate Us From God's Love
For Us
What then shall we say to these things? If
God is for us, who can be against us? -- Rom 8:31
For I am persuaded that neither death nor
life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor
things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall
be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord.- Rom 8:38-39
We Become A New Creation In Christ
For the love of Christ compels us, because
we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for
all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him
who died for them and rose again. Therefore, from now on, we regard no
one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to
the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in
Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all
things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us
to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of
reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to
Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us
the word of reconciliation. Now then, we are Advocates for Christ, as
though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be
reconciled to God. For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that
we might become the righteousness of God in Him. -- 2 Cor 5:14-21
We Have Been Co-Crucified With Christ On
The Cross To Overcome Sin And Death
"I have been crucified with Christ; it is
no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now
live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave
Himself for me. -- Gal 2:20
But God forbid that I should boast except
in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been
crucified to me, and I to the world. For in Christ Jesus neither
circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation. --
Gal 6:14-15
Therefore we were buried with Him through
baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the
glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For
if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we
also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our
old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away
with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has
been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we
shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the
dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death
that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He
lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to
sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Rom 6:4-11
For sin shall not have dominion over you,
for you are not under law but under grace. -- Rom 6:14
For the wages of sin is death, but the
gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. -- Rom 6:23
Through Jesus' Death We Overcome The Power
Of Sin And The Law
Therefore, my brethren, you also have
become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married
to another; to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit
to God. For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were
aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death.
But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were
held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in
the oldness of the letter. -- Rom 7:4-6
We Have To Overcome The Law Of Sin In
Christ
Now if I do what I will not to do, it is
no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. I find
then a law, that evil is present with me,
the one who wills to do good. -- Rom 7:20-21
I thank God; through Jesus Christ our
Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the
flesh the law of sin. -- Rom 7:25
But you are not in the flesh but in the
Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not
have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the
body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of
righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead
dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to
your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. -- Rom 8:9-11
There is therefore now no condemnation to
those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but
according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ
Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law
could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His
own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned
sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be
fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to
the Spirit. -- Rom 8:1-4
This is the message which we have heard
from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness
at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness,
we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He
is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of
Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no
sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our
sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him
a liar, and His word is not in us. -- 1 John 1:5-10
My little children, these things I write
to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate
with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the
propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole
world. Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His
commandments. He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His
commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps
His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that
we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk
just as He walked. -- 1 John 2:1-6
The Difference Between Law And Grace
Now we know that whatever the law says, it
says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and
all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the
law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the
knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is
revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the
righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who
believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of
the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the
redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation
by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in
His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously
committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He
might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. -- Ro
3:19-26
We Fulfill The Law Through Jesus Christ
Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to
you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law,
or by the hearing of faith?; just as Abraham "believed God, and it was
accounted to him for righteousness." Therefore know that only those who
are of faith are sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God
would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham
beforehand, saying, "In you all the nations shall be blessed." So then
those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. For as many as
are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written,
"Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written
in the book of the law, to do them." But that no one is justified by the
law in the sight of God is evident, for "the just shall live by faith."
Yet the law is not of faith, but "the man who does them shall live by
them." Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a
curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a
tree"), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in
Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through
faith. -- Gal 3:5-14
Now to him who works, the wages are not
counted as grace but as debt. But to him who does not work but believes
on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for
righteousness, just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to
whom God imputes righteousness apart from works: "Blessed are those whose
lawless deeds are forgiven, And whose sins are covered; Blessed is the
man to whom the LORD shall not impute sin." -- Rom 4:4-8
For they being ignorant of God's
righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not
submitted to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law
for righteousness to everyone who believes. For Moses writes about the
righteousness which is of the law, "The man who does those things shall
live by them." But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, "Do not
say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?' " (that is, to bring
Christ down from above) or, " 'Who will descend into the abyss?' " (that
is, to bring Christ up from the dead). But what does it say? "The word is
near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith
which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and
believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be
saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the
mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, "Whoever
believes on Him will not be put to shame." For there is no distinction
between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call
upon Him. For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved." --
Rom 10:3-13
The Law Was Given To Lead Us To Christ
Therefore the law was our tutor to bring
us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has
come, we are no longer under a tutor. For you are all sons of God
through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into
Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is
neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all
one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's
seed, and heirs according to the promise. -- Gal 3:24-29
