SCRIPTURAL STEPS TO EMOTIONAL RECOVERY

Cast all your cares upon the Lord for he cares for you!

Perfect (mature) love casts out all fear.

We must change our belief system so that we always consider growth or we are dying a slow miserable death.  What must happen to feel blessed and experience abundance – then count the blessing.  What causes feelings of failure?  Find where you lack faith in God and you’ll see where you lack knowledge of His divine character.

Admit we failed God and decide to replace the false belief system and take corrective actions now.  To be free of this belief get leverage, the reason to ‘why’ we do the things we do or believe will give us the motivation, and then we can interrupt the old pattern of belief that led to irrational behavior.

Draw close to God and entrust your entire life to Him.  Remember Christ's sufferings and experience His incredible love as you release the offender.

Be honest, be transparent, and be real.  Be emotionally honest with God.  ‘Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. Selah’ -- Psa 62:8

Offer pain as a sacrifice to God.  ‘For it is commend-able if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.’ -- 1 Pet 2:19-21

Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. ‘Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.’ -- Ps. 55:22

Set your mind and fix your heart on Jesus.  ‘Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.’ -- He.12:2-3

Share the burden with a confidant.  'Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work:  If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!’ - Ecc. 4:9-10

‘Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.’-Gal 6:2

Do what is best for the offender. ‘If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.  In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you.’ -- Pr. 25:21-22

Pray for your enemies.  ‘But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,’ -- Mat. 5:44;’

... for wicked and deceitful men have opened their mouths against me; they have spoken against me with lying tongues. With words of hatred they surround me; they attack me without cause.  In return for my friendship they accuse me, but I am a man of prayer.’ -- Ps. 109:2-4

Allow God to continue the work in you, ‘... being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.’ -- Phil. 1:6

Look to the end of this life's journey, ‘I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.’ -- Ro. 8:18

Anticipate the good that will come out of the suffering.  ‘Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.’ -- 2 Co.1:3-4

Be confident, God works out all things for our  good.  ‘And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.’ -- Romans 8:28

HEALING OUR EMOTIONAL TRIGGERS THROUGH CHRIST

We must change our belief system so that we always consider growth or we are dying a slow miserable death. Cast all your cares upon the Lord for he cares for you!  Perfect (mature) love casts out all fear.  What must happen to feel blessed and experience abundance – then remember to count the blessing.

What causes feelings of failure?  Find where you lack faith in God and you’ll see where you lack knowledge of His divine character.

Emotion is energy in motion.  An emotion is the barometer of our mental state of mind in regards to fight or flight and pain or pleasure and affects our character and destiny.

We experience life through a grid of emotional screens that color our perception - What are the injunctions in life that need to be changed?

We practice certain rites from the way we learn to view life’s experience.

We need to learn to control our emotions by changing our rights and our rites.  If we change our thinking habits of looking through negative or positive emotions we rejuvenate or recreate our character, then behavior, and eventual destiny.

In order to change we must identify what we really want in life to be happy and reinforce the positive emotion to create an anchor that our character will acclimate too.

The anchor of my soul - associations are created through intense emotional states.  The associations are imprinted through those experiences going on around us.

We relate every emotion through what we have experienced - addictions are created though the pleasure or pain we associate with the experience.

In order to change we must break the pleasure/pain association with the anchor.  We need to think and believe to change the reality around the anchors we associate with the pleasure or painful emotions.  We control and understand the process so we can change our feelings in a given situation.  We change the physiology we change the state of our emotions.

Emotional triggers - anything we do habitually will change our states of consciousness.  The feeling will become autonomous when we repeat the trigger (action) and the emotional state returns, positive or negative.

To create a positive trigger get yourself into a highly emotional state, then do something unique over and over to imprint the experience.  The new experience will set up a trigger that will then change your state.  The next step is to just relax, change your focus for the moment, use the trigger, and feel your body snapping back into the intense emotional state.  Alternating negative and positive anchors will collapse negative associations by simultaneously firing them off.

Positive anchors are effective when we make sure we are in the desired state and consistently link a trigger to that state - no double-mindedness

Change comes through mentally visualization: best case versus worst case scenario.   Simply picture the worst with a tiny visual of the best in the corner and then compare the two.  In your vision change the tiny positive visual to an overcoming positive image.  The basis of your beliefs will change with enthusiastic repetition that is based on the truth.

A TECHNIQUE FOR INSTILLING CHANGE

In order to learn to associate positive emotions with abundant living we must make obedience to God our top priority.  In order to make abundant living a priority and commit to having it, we must surrender to God.  We also need to devote time to develop our relationships with God, family and friends.  We need to take an action now while setting our heart’s desire to achieve it.  The only way to fail is to not follow through on this strategy.  Love is a verb; an action that leads to godly habits for effectively attaining abundant life in Christ.

Step 1.  To be free of a false belief or destructive behavior get leverage, the reason to ‘why’ we do the things we do or believe, these will give us the motivation, and then we can interrupt the old pattern of belief that led to irrational behavior.

Step 2.  Decide you are going to be free of this false belief, fear, etc. Avoid complacency by finding out why we can be abundant. Complacency is settling for less than our personal best.  Complacency will stall any possible growth; be willing to change. Our tendencies are set in motion and momentum is gained when we continue to work toward the desires.  We can loose the rewards by playing it safe and staying in our comfort zone.

Step 3.  Decide you’re not going to allow others to control your value.  Do not rely upon others to fulfill your responsibilities.  Faith is knowing and doing the will of God.

Step 4.  Get enough leverage to follow through; write out the cost of not overcoming this fear or behavior; then the benefits of being free from it.  List what you need to know and get the answers you need now.

Step 5.  Through a promise(s) of God get into a positive state and create a positive anchor.

Step 6.  Create a new set of beliefs based on God’s acceptance.  We are His children.

Step 7.  Use the forgiveness technique to interrupt old thought patterns, repent of the root of bitterness.

Step 8.  Picture a big failure as if it were on a movie screen.  How did we miss the bulls eye.

Step 9.  With a smile on your face run the memory at high speed in reverse.

Step 10.  Recreate the image and think of God’s promises of forgiveness as a positive anchor while imagining being accepted

Step 11.  Write out the benefits you received after reconciling past failures or rejections - now with the false beliefs reconciled remember God’s Word that He will work all things out for the good of those who are called according to His will and purposes.

Step 12.  Now run it twice as fast forward and stop.

Step 13.  Run it forward and backward as fast as you can.  Each time expose the false beliefs about your behavior knowing God will help us change.

Step 14.  Now think about the painful memory. You should be smiling!

Step 15. And fully imagine having the success you desire over and over again based on a promise until it’s absolutely real for you and becomes a sense of certainty that is based on the promises of God.  Allow the victories of past trials and tribulation to guide your path.

Step 16.  Now rehearse.  This is the way to achieve success - meditate and feel the pleasure of success in the blessings from knowing God’s presence in your life.  Now experience your emotions as God’s truth transforms us and the emotion begins to line up with our beliefs, our faith towards God, which is your gift from Him.  Amen.

 OVERCOMING UNBELIEF

Decisions must be based on facts not feelings

Faith is living out what we truly believe

We need to accept who we are and believe God for any improvements

 Eliminating Self-defeating Beliefs

Describe the painful experience of past false beliefs

List the terms you associate with abundance

Write out beliefs you heard growing up

Write out the benefits of living in the truth

Remove false beliefs with the truth and meditate while you repeat them

INCORPORATE TRUTH WHICH WILL LEAD TO BLESSINGS

The more freely I give, the more I ultimately receive

I will praise and thank God always expecting nothing

Expect God’s blessing to come from anywhere at anytime

Abundance comes from doing what we love and making sure everyone receives its true value.

Do what you love that others would be willing to invest in and reach a multitude of people intelligently to build an abundance by giving the treasure away.

Above all be a cheerful giver!

OVERCOMING THE FEAR OF REJECTION

Decide you’re not going to allow others to control your value

Get enough leverage to follow through; write out the cost of not overcoming this fear; then the benefits of being free from it

Create a new set of beliefs based on God’s acceptance

Use the forgiveness technique to interrupt old thought patterns

Create and think of a positive anchor while imagining being rejected

Write out the benefits you received after past failures or rejections – reconcile false beliefs with God’s word remembering all things work out for the good of those who are called according to His will.

OVERCOMING PROCRASTINATION

Eliminate Double-mindedness

Identify the tendency

Accept the non-congruence of pleasure/pain

Get the reasons ‘why’

Interrupt the old patterns

Rehearse the way to achieve success – meditate and feel the pleasure of success in the blessings
