The purpose of this study is to reveal the redemptive cost for the Church.  These scriptures bring light to the heritage of the church concerning our divine inheritance with Israel and how we became part of the blessing.  Since man's beginning God finds a person righteous through faith in God's promise of redemption through Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

God uses different ways and means to help man regain the lost relationship in every age.  God always worked everything out for our good to reconcile us to Himself.  In every age, Jesus Christ's death, burial, resurrection, and ascension, saves a person through faith in the promise of Jesus’ coming, and afterwards, the actual substitutionary death, by imputing Christ's righteousness.

The Benefits Of The Cross

“Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”    -- Isaiah 53:4-5

"For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. -- Luke 2:11

He Came To Save

"... for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."    -- Luke 19:10

"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. -- Jn 3:17

He Came To Forgive Sin And Give The Holy Spirit

"The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree. "Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and  forgiveness of sins. "And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him."    -- Acts 5:30-32

Jesus Came To Save Sinners

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.    -- 1 Timothy 1:15

Jesus Saves All Who Come To Him

And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.    -- 1 John 4:14

Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He ever lives to make intercession for them.    -- Hebrews 7:25

He Is The Only Savior

"Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."  -- Acts 4:12

We Are Justified By Grace Through His Blood

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.  -- Rom.5:8-9

But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God which is through faith in Jesus Christ to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth to be a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.- Rom. 3:21-26

Our Salvation Comes Through Jesus

For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, -- 1 Th. 5:9

Jesus Became Sin For Us

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. - 2 Co 5:21

As Many As Are Baptized Are Freed From Sin

Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin.  -- Romans 6:3-7

Jesus Tasted Death For Every Man

But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.    -- Hebrews 2:9

He Bore The Sins Of Many

... so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.    -- Hebrews 9:28

Jesus Is The Mediator Between God And Man

For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,    -- 1 Timothy 2:5-6

He Is Our Advocate Concerning Sin

My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. --1 John 2:1-2

Jesus Became Our Advocate To Cleanse Us From All Sin

And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.  This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.  If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. --1 John 1:4-10

We have to thank God and our Lord Jesus Christ, for we all have fallen short of the glory of God.  Even though our sins may not be as evident as others, they are still there.  Our hope is in Jesus, and one day soon we will be set free from this body of sin.  We do not always do that which we would, but that which we would not.  We still have to contend with this body of flesh and its desires, but praise God, "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.” -- Romans 8:1-4.  So this flesh is dead because of sin, yet, the inward man is alive to God for those who walk after the Spirit of God.

One of the most important things a Christian can learn is to keep their eyes on Jesus and obey His teachings.  Look to Him and not others or you'll see faults.  This will only detract from the relationship we have with the Lord.

Learn to expect the unexpected.  Everyone serves God in their own fashion; we all have different personalities.  Learn to love your brothers and sisters for the individuals they are.  Do not judge them; do not criticize, condemn or complain.  We have all sinned. There is very little difference, we have all been forgiven through of God's grace alone!  We are all related through this commonality and by being united ‘in Christ’ for our salvation.

THE POWER OF THE SAVIOR'S BLOOD

When Jesus laid down His life so that we have eternal life, the Blood of the Lamb became our very life source.   Through the body and blood of Jesus we receive the ability to become the sons of God.  The following scriptures will reveal the power of the blood and why His sacrifice was indispensable.

The Blood Of Jesus Was The Seal Of The New Covenant

And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed it and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you.   "For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.    -- Matthew 26:26-28

We Are Commanded To Partake Of The Lord's Supper

Then Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. "Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. "For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. "He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. "As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. "This is the bread which came down from heaven; not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever." - Jn 6:53-58

All Of The Savior's Blood Was Shed

But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. - Jn 19:34

His Blood Purchased The Church

"For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God. "Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

We Are Justified By The Blood

For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.    -- Colossians 1:19-20

Our Consciences Are Purged Through The Blood

For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?    -- Hebrews 9:13-14

Through His Blood We Become A Nation Of Kings And Priests

And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth."    -- Revelation 5:9-10

We Overcome 'The Accuser' Through Our Testimony And The Blood

Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.    -- Rev 12:10-11

We Are Cleansed From All Sin By The Blood Of Jesus

-- 1 John 1:5-10

Before talking to anyone about salvation, be patient and willing to listen.  We may have to listen a long time before we ever get a chance to share the good news.  Amen.

The next scriptures deal with the sufferings of Jesus Christ; while He walked on this earth and during His crucifixion. Could we have asked of God anything more precious than His only begotten Son's life, to prove how much He loves us?

The Suffering Of Our Lord Jesus Christ

Reproach has broken my heart, And I am full of heaviness; I looked for someone to take pity, but there was none; And for comforters, but I found none. They also gave me gall for my food, And for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. -- Psalms 69:20-21

I gave My back to those who struck Me, and My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.    -- Isaiah 50:6

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. -- Isaiah 53:5

He Was A Man Of Sorrows

He is despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.    -- Isaiah 53:3-4

The suffering Jesus underwent were by the hand of the Pharisees who were seeking a sign from heaven, they also tempted Him, and His own disciples doubted Him.  They lacked faith and understanding even though He had been with them three years.  They weren't able to cast a demon out of a child for the lack of faith and understanding.  Jesus wept for the lack of faith of Mary, the sister of Lazarus.  Surely He was downcast when one of His own disciples betrayed Him.   Jesus was also despised of men.  Men did not honor Him in His own city or in His own neighborhood.  They railed accusations at Him; they mocked Him on the cross.  The Pharisees derided Him and His teachings; and many of the Jews said, 'He hath a devil and is mad.'  He endured humiliation.  His grave was made with the wicked, He was crucified with two thieves, He was reckoned among the transgressors, though He was rich, He became poor so that through His poverty we might be rich, and being found in the fashion of a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

He Was Mocked

When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"  Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head. Then when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified.    -- Matt. 27:29-31

Likewise the chief priests, also mocking with the scribes and elders, said, "He saved others; Himself He cannot save. If He is the King of Israel, let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe Him. "He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, 'I am the Son of God.' "    -- Matthew 27:41-43

Now the men who held Jesus mocked Him and beat Him. And having blindfolded Him, they struck Him on the face and asked Him, saying, "Prophesy! Who is it that struck You?" And many other things they blasphemously spoke against Him.  -- Luke 22:63-65

And the soldiers also mocked Him, coming and offering Him sour wine, and saying, "If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself." And an inscription also was written over Him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.—Lu. 23:36-38

He Was Reviled

And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads and saying, "You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross."    -- Matthew 27:39-40

Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, "If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us."    -- Luke 23:39

Jesus Suffered On The Cross

Now as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. Him they compelled to bear His cross. And when they had come to a place called Golgotha, that is to say, Place of a Skull, they gave Him sour wine mingled with gall to drink. But when He had tasted it, He would not drink. Then they crucified Him, and divided His garments, casting lots, that  it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet: "They divided My garments among them, and for My clothing they cast lots." -- Mt. 27:32-35

Jesus Was Rejected By Men

And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus. And when they saw Him, they begged Him to depart from their region.   -- Matthew 8:34

This happened after Jesus delivered a person who was possessed and lived among the tombs.  The people of Gergesenes were very upset because the demons were allowed to  enter a heard of swine.  When they were cast out they entered  the swine.  The pigs turned and ran into the sea perishing in the water "Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of  James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?" And they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house."  - Mark 6:3-4

He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.    --  John 1:11

"I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive. -- Jn 5:43
