How Are We Placed Into Christ? God Does
It For Us!
... so that no one should boast before
God. It is His (God's) doing that you are united with Jesus Christ. He
has become wisdom for us from God, and righteousness and holiness and
redemption as well! -- 1 Co.1:29-31
We Receive Christ's Life From God And
Receive His Righteousness Through Co-Crucifixion?
I have been crucified with Christ; it is
no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now
live in the flesh I live by faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave
Himself for me. -- Gal.2:20
The Holy Spirit Was Given To Us To Bear
Witness That We Are Christ's
But you are not in the flesh but in the
Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not
have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. -- Romans 8:9
We Receive Eternal Life Through Receiving
The Holy Spirit According To God's Promise
And if Christ is in you, the body is dead
because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if
the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who
raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies
through His Spirit who dwells in you. -- Rom. 8:10-11
We Respond To The Holy Spirit As God's
Children
For as many as are led by the Spirit of
God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage
again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out,
"Abba, Father." The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we
are children of God, -- Rom. 8:14-16
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our
weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but
the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot
be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the
Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the
will of God. -- Rom. 8:26-27
We Become The Children Of God When We
Accept Jesus’ Sacrifice For Our Sins
Behold what manner of love the Father has
bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the
world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are
children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we
know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him
as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as
He is pure. -- 1 John 3:1-3
How We Know That We Have Received The Holy
Spirit
Now he who keeps His commandments abides
in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the
Spirit whom He has given us. -- 1 John 3:24
The Holy Spirit Bears Witness Of Who Jesus
Is
This is He who came by water and blood;
Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the
Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. - 1 John 5:6
Test The Spirit By Questioning Whether The
Minister Testifies Of Jesus Christ
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but
test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets
have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every
spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,
and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the
flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you
have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. You are of God,
little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is
greater than he who is in the world. - 1 John 4:1-4
We Know Jesus Is Living Through Us By The
Holy Spirit Living In Us
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you
shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the
Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one
another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are
led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. -- Gal.5:16-18
What Is The Evidence Of The Holy Spirit
Leading Us?
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,
self-control. Against such there is no law. -- Galatians 5:22-23
... Jesus answered and said, ‘I thank You,
Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from
the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. ‘Even so, Father,
for so it seemed good in Your sight.’ -- Mat 11:25-26
But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen,
nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God
has prepared for those who love Him.’ But God has revealed them to us
through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep
things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit
of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except
the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but
the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been
freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which
man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing
spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the
things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he
know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is
spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.
For ‘who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?’ But we
have the mind of Christ. -- 1 Cor 2:9-16
...that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation
in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened;
that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of
the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding
greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of
His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the
dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above
all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is
named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put
all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the
church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. --
Eph 1:17-23
Through Faith We Receive What Is Ours
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord
Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the
heavenly places in Christ, -- Eph 1:3
...that I may know Him and the power of
His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to
His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the
dead. -- Phil 3:10-11
Realizing The Spiritual Life
For this reason we also, since the day we
heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled
with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful
in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened
with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and
longsuffering with joy; -- Col 1:9-11,
As the believer grows into a full
knowledge of the truth, he will experience more and more of the working of
God in his life. The life of victory will become stronger and more real
despite trial and tribulations. There will be more and more conformity to
the image of Christ. She will be led into a Spirit-filled, Spirit-led and
fruit-filled life in Christ as she grows into the full measure of Christ
as our life. We see this in Phil 1:9. ‘And this I pray, that your love
may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you
may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and
without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of
righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.’
WALKING DAILY IN THE SPIRIT
We need to ask for the guidance
we need daily. God already has shown us how much He loves us by sending
His Son to die on the Cross. Our full spiritual restoration can only come
from a life led by the Holy Spirit. We need to receive our guidance from
Him in order to commune with God. He becomes our conscience, intuitively
leading and teaching us, and through Him we worship God in Spirit and in
reality. We grow into the full stature of Christ by learning to walk in
the Spirit, and by doing the will of God. The fruit of the Spirit will be
manifested in our daily lives as we become obedient to God. The Holy
Spirit will lead us through life and we shall never be alone, for it is
written, "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper,
that He may abide with you forever,” -- John 14:16.
There is therefore now no condemnation to
those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but
according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ
Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
For what the law could not do in that it
was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness
of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that
the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not
walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who
live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh,
but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For
to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and
peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not
subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in
the flesh cannot please God. -- Romans 8:1-8
The Spirit Gives Us Life, He Dwells In Us
But you are not in the flesh but in the
Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not
have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the
body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of
righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead
dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to
your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. -- Romans
8:9-11
Our Obligation To The Holy Spirit
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors; not
to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to
the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of
the body, you will live. -- Romans 8:12-13
The Holy Spirit Witnesses That We Are The
Children Of God
For as many as are led by the Spirit of
God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage
again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out,
"Abba, Father." The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we
are children of God, and if children, then heirs; heirs of God and joint
heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be
glorified together. -- Romans 8:14-17
The Holy Spirit Will Teach Us About Love
So We Can Fulfill The Law
Owe no one anything except to love one
another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the
commandments, "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not murder,"
"You shall not steal," "You shall not bear false witness," "You shall not
covet," and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this
saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Love does no
harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. --
Romans 13:8-10
We Are Called To Live In The Liberty Of
The Holy Spirit
For you, brethren, have been called to
liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but
through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word,
even in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." But if you bite
and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another! I say
then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh;
and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things
that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the
law. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery,
fornication, uncleanness, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred,
contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions,
dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the
like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time
past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of
God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such
there is no law. And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with
its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in
the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying
one another. - Galatians 5:13-26
